SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – An investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found at Beach Access 6 at South Padre Island.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is trying to determine the identity of the woman.

Officer Ira Zuniga says a Cameron County park ranger who was patrolling the area found a kayak in the water.

The agency, along with the Coast Guard, then found the woman’s body.  

Zuniga says the case is being investigated as a drowning.
