ALAMO – A Cuban-American is speaking out about the recent travel restrictions placed for Cuba.

The Trump Administration imposed the travel restrictions on Cuba Tuesday; U.S. ships will no longer stop at the island.

Maria Elena Forina left Cuba 58 years ago and says she’s never had the desire to go back.

"We had no freedom. Not only because we had no freedom there was nothing. There was no food. There was nothing," says Forina.

She claims tourism only helps the Cuban regime.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to owner of Chuck Olson Tours and Cruises Chuck Olson.

Olson explained what this travel ban means for the cruise line ships.

"It's going to affect the cruise lines in some ways because they have, there's some ships that really geared and created some changes so that they would meet that market,” he says.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the restrictions come as a result of Cuba continuing to play a destabilizing role in the western hemisphere.
