Man Accused of Shooting Trooper Sanchez Pleads 'Not Guilty' to Capital Murder

UPDATE: Victor Godinez, 24, has been charged with capital murder in the death of DPS Trooper Moises Sanchez.

Godinez is also charged with two counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer; Godinez pled not guilty to all the charges.

His pre-trial hearing has been set to Dec. 5.

Godinez could face life in prison or the death penalty.

EDINBURG - The man arrested in connection with the shooting death of DPS Trooper, Moises Sanchez will head back to court Monday.

It'll be the second time he'll appear to be arraigned on upgraded charges in the past week.

Victor Godinez,24,  appeared last Wednesday in Edinburg to be arraigned on upgraded charges..

The hearing was rescheduled after his lawyer failed to show up to the hearing.

The new two-count indictment against Godinez accuses him of shooting and killing Sanchez, and shooting at an Edinburg police officer.

Godinez is still in jail being held on a $3 million bond since his arrest.
