Police continue investigating after 25 teens cited for underage drinking at McAllen Airbnb party
The McAllen Police Department continues to investigate after citing 25 teens for underage drinking during a party at an Airbnb-rented home.
The teens, ages 16 to 18, received class C misdemeanor citations. Police say the citations are similar to traffic tickets and punishable only by a fine.
The party happened on Saturday at a home on Kingsborough Avenue near Bicentennial Boulevard. Police say someone reported seeing a picture from the home showing dozens of people.

When officers arrived, they found people in the front of the home. Inside, they found a fridge stocked with alcohol and empty alcohol cartons.
"It's similar to a speeding ticket, a traffic ticket. This is a class C misdemeanor, which is punishable only by a fine. It is reported to the McAllen Municipal Court, and a public record is now created," McAllen Police Department Sgt. John Saenz said.
Police say whether the citation stays on a teen's record depends on what happens in court.
Investigators say they're still working to find out who rented the home and who may have provided the alcohol to the teens.
Police are reminding property owners to set clear rules when renting out their homes.
Airbnb said they are looking into the situation.
