A stretch of Monte Cristo Road in McAllen is set to close this weekend for storm drain pipe installation, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT announced FM 1925 will be shut down between Ware Road and 29th Street/Rooth Road starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7.

The closure will affect residents in the Tres Lagos community in McAllen.

Digital message boards are already in place to alert drivers about the closure. A signed detour route will guide drivers around the roughly 1-mile stretch of FM 1925.

Drivers should plan ahead and adjust their commute times for possible delays.
