A third person has died in the head-on, wrong-way crash in Palmview.

Efren Garcia-Saldivar, 22, a resident of Mission, was transported to McAllen Medical Center in critical condition following the crash; he died from his injuries on Monday, Aug. 17, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred on Friday, Aug. 14 on Texan Road south of Freedom Avenue, north of Palmview.

As previously reported, a Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Texan Road and a Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound on the wrong side of the road when it collided with the Ford.

Garcia-Saldivar was the driver of the Chevrolet. His passenger, 19-year-old Brianna Yatziri Saucedo, died at the scene. The driver of the Ford, 25-year-old Jonathan Tellez-Sosa, also died at the scene.

The passenger of the Ford was taken to McAllen Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
