The UTRGV Vaqueros took down the #25 Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday night 13-3 in Edinburg.

The Vaqueros defense shined against the Lions, holding them to their lowest scoring output in conference play since 2018.

It's also the fewest points UTRGV has ever limited a Division I opponent to in program history.

The Vaqueros defense forced Southeastern into three interceptions, with two coming from defensive back TJ Neal. However, arguably the biggest of the game came from star linebacker Jaiden Haygood who picked off the Lions pass on 3rd & Goal in the five around halfway through the fourth quarter.

That interception allowed UTRGV to ice the game, thanks to two key third down conversions from Aidan Jakobsohn and the offense. Those being a 40-yard pass to Clint Thomas Jr. on 3rd & 12 followed by a 16-yard touchdown to Jaydon Smith on 3rd & 6.

Jakobsohn finished the game with a season-high 244 passing yards in the game and three different Vaqueros receivers eclipsed 50 yards receiving on the night.

The Vaqueros also move to 10-0 all-time at home in Edinburg dating back to last season, as the team's coined term of 'Valley Voodoo' continues to highlight a trend of being difficult to beat in the RGV.

UTRGV's next game comes on the road in San Antonio next Saturday against the Incarnate Word Cardinals.
