BROWNSVILLE – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will be holding a preparedness exercise on their Brownsville campus Wednesday.

The drill will leave some roads closed for several hours Wednesday morning.

The UTRGV Police Department along with other emergency responders will be conducting a full scale exercise on the Brownsville campus, set to start at 8 a.m.

As part of the drill they will be closing Ringgold Road from Fort Brown Condo-Shares to Ridgely Road and from Gorgas Drive, north of the Campus Bookstore to Ringgold Road for four hours.

The exercise will involve the Student Union and the Student Bookstore on the Brownsville campus.

UTRGV police will be testing their current policies and procedures in this simulated incident.

They hope to find any weak spots in their ability to respond in an actual emergency.
