Members of several churches plan to march in Edinburg next Saturday to draw attention to how immigration issues affect local families.

The march will take place at Edinburg City Hall on Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon. Ten churches plan to attend.

The event will include prayer, singing, and testimonies.

"Children and youth, they don't know what to do about it, but we are feeling it," Templo Familiar Emmanuel Lead Pastor Zilpa Gutierrez said. "We feel their hearts, and we see in our churches how they are living in fear with school starting. We want to be a voice for them; we want to guide them and let them know that there is hope for them and for their families as well."

Among those planning to attend is the family of Juan Mejia Contador, an Edinburg father of four who was detained by federal immigration authorities on Aug. 22.
