Valley Landowner Warns about ‘Kissing Bug’ Infecting Dogs
MISSION – The sun goes down and the problem becomes worse.
A bug that targets a number of mammals, including pets. It’s been a big problem in the Rio Grande Valley for years.
A local landowner says at least six of his dogs died due to the kissing bug, an insect that carries T. cruzi.
With a high population of strays in the Valley, tests show 25% to 30% infection rate in dogs.
The infection can also be deadly to humans.
