The owner of Match Made Coffee Bar in Edinburg says being a business owner was not in her plans, but that changed for Stephanie Brantley when she and her wife were planning their wedding and hired a coffee bar vendor.

Brantley says when the vendor found out it was for a same-sex wedding, the contract was canceled.

She says they wanted to turn that experience into something positive and opened Match Made Coffee Bar during the pandemic.

"It's not just about the coffee, it's about the experience," Brantley said. "We want you to know that everyone is welcome. And when we meet new customers at our trailer, the first thing we say to them is 'welcome home, welcome home,' because you belong here and this is a safe place for you."

Brantley says as a female business owner, she's learned to stand up for herself, and what to sacrifice for the good of the business.

Her advice for aspiring women business owners is finding a person who believes in you and will support you no matter what.
