San Benito, TX (KRGV) — A jury recommended the death penalty for the man convicted of killing San Benito police Lt. Milton Resendez.

Rogelio Martinez was found guilty in early October of killing Resendez during a police chase in 2023.

Prosecutors said Martinez remains a danger to others. His attorneys said his childhood and mental health history should spare him from the death penalty.
