Vietnam War Veterans in the Valley gathered for a special ceremony on Tuesday to honor their service almost 50 years ago.

Though it’s been almost 50 years since the Vietnam War ended, Army veteran Felix Rodriguez said he remembers the war all too well.

"Freedom is not free, the liberties that we enjoy didn't just happen,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez volunteered when he was 18 years old to answer what he says was a call to serve his country.

But the journey home for many veterans was a rough one. Now there's a sign of change.

More organizations are welcoming and offering assistance to veterans

To end the day’s celebration, veterans at the VFW Post 8788 gathered with one another for support, laughter and to honor those who served along their side and those who never came home.
