Cameron County polling sites see strong turnout during final week of early voting

Brownsville, TX (KRGV) — Early voting turnout in Cameron County is on track to pass the county's 2022 midterm election total as the final week of early voting continues, according to Cameron County Election Administrator Remi Garza.
Since day one of early voting, more than 46,000 people have cast their ballots in Cameron County. In 2022, about 51,000 people voted early.
"What we are seeing what we call presidential levels of participation and I think there is number of factors that go into that. One, it's a big election and it's a big ballot. There are other jurisdictions that are holding elections at the same time, so there are local candidates that are on the ballot right now," Garza said.
More than 101,000 people have voted early in Hidalgo County. In 2022, nearly 104,000 people voted early.
