Insurance Agencies Advise to be Aware of Door to Door Contractors
WESLACO - Make sure you know what you’re signing with a contractor after a storm.
The Texas Attorney General tell us you need to be aware if someone knocks and tries to sell you something.
A business is trying to clear its name and they tell us they knock on doors all the time.
Hope Insurance agent Laura Rangel explained one of her clients brought in this contract by CRV Construction.
She says they didn't know they were signing a contract.
We looked at CRV Construction’s contract.
It states a homeowner has three days to cancel the contract.
If not, they will automatically "pay to the company 15 percent of the insurance proceeds and just compensation for said cancellation."
We reached out to CRV Construction manager Jose Aviles.
He says they only approach homes that show significant damage and make sure the homeowners read the contract before signing.
