San Juan Officer Out on Bond after Facing Drug Charges
SAN JUAN – The San Juan police officer facing drug charges from his arrest last week is out of custody on bond, according to his attorney.
San Juan Police Officer Salvador Hernandez is accused of possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.
DEA agents said Hernandez responded to a crash in San Juan last August. They said, at the time, Hernandez found an abandoned vehicle in an orchard with drugs inside.
According to a criminal complaint, Hernandez delivered 37 bundles back to the San Juan Police Department.
But DEA agents said there were 40 bundles of the drug.
Hernandez has been suspended from the department without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
