Widow mourns immigration attorney killed alongside son in McAllen crash

The widow of a McAllen immigration attorney killed in a weekend crash is speaking out about her husband's death.
Anissa Olivia Guerrero is still processing the loss of her husband, 64-year-old Fabian Guerrero, and her stepson, — 31-year-old Fabian Diego Guerrero — who both died after a crash on Sunday.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Fabian and his son were traveling on FM 2220 south of 6 Mile Line north of McAllen at around 11:30 a.m. DPS says Fabian’s son, who was behind the wheel, veered into the northbound lane and hit another driver.
Fabian died at a hospital. His son died at the scene.
Anissa described the moments before she realized something was wrong.
"Usually he'll text me, 'I'm leaving church' or 'I'm leaving,'" Anissa said. "This time I hadn't heard from him, and I called him, and no answer."
Fabian was an immigration attorney who spent more than five years helping clients in the Rio Grande Valley.
"He was caring. A lot of clients came to him for peace of mind because he would give clients a lot of good information, and talk to them as if they were friends instead of him being an attorney to them," Anissa said.
Anissa said Fabian and his son would go to church together every Sunday. That Sunday was no different until everything changed.
She described the last moment she saw him before he walked out the door.
"I looked at him, and he gave me a smile, but his smile was so different. I really felt like it was a goodbye smile," Anissa said.
Fabian's law firm says an attorney in Dallas, a friend of Fabian's, will now handle his cases. Clients are also being notified.
Anissa wants people to remember Fabian for the life he lived.
"So many people loved you. So many clients admire you, and they're reaching out because they care about you," Anissa said.
