65-year-old suspect in custody in connection with robbery of Rio Hondo church
A 65-year-old man is in custody after musical instruments used by a church choir were stolen, according to the Harlingen Police Department.
Guy Williams Pane was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the theft of the instruments at Saint Helen Catholic Church of Rio Hondo.
Police arrested Pane after he sold the instruments to a pawn shop.
“Worst of all is that we thought that those who did this were children and, well, he is an old man,” Saint Helen Catholic Church of Rio Hondo Secretary Sandra Landrum said. “Hopefully he pays for what he did. I do not wish anyone harm, but he must pay for what he did.”
The instruments were recovered, and Pane is set to face a judge on Wednesday.
