A Closer Look: How Pan de Muerto is Made

ELSA – Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Death, is a day when ancestors, those who have passed on, are honored and remembered.

It will be celebrated on November first and second.

You have probably seen or heard of the pan de muerto and now we learn what it is and how it’s made.

For more than 15 years, an Elsa bakery has made the delicious and iconic pan de muerto.

Gloria Orduna and Efren Mar, employees at La Reynera Bakery taught us how.

“Every year we preserve this tradition. We honor our grandfather by creating an altar for him. With his favorite food and picture and of course pan de muerto. After all he was the one that taught me,” says Orduna.
