A special mass was held Wednesday for law enforcement and first responders.

First responders, police officers, firefighters, deputies and paramedics from across the Valley where in attendance the annual Blue Mass at the Basilica Of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle.

Bishop Daniel Flores prayed for their protection.

“It's important that we recognize our different police and sheriff’s offices because they are members of our community and our neighbors and we want to support them,” Flores said. “We ask them to be conscientious in the service as they serve our community.”

All officers killed in the line of duty were also remembered for their courage, bravery and sacrifice.
