Road closures on Ruben M. Torres Boulevard in Brownsville are in effect for the next few hours as crews repair a water line break, according to the Brownsville Public Utilities Board.

The water line was struck by a fiber installation contractor, and the closure is expected to last for six hours, Brownsville PUB said.

Northbound and southbound lanes on Ruben M. Torres Boulevard between Old Port Isabel and Robindale Road will be closed as repairs are made.

Those traveling northbound are advised to take a detour through Old Port Isabel. Those heading southbound can divert their route through Robindale Road, Brownsville PUB said.

“BPUB apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The safety of our residents and the restoration of services remains our top priority,” the board stated. “We encourage drivers to plan their routes in advance and to follow all posted detour signs.”
