MERCEDES – A Christmas Eve car chase is under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.

It happened in Mercedes on Tuesday afternoon, ending in a sugarcane field.

The driver is in custody, but three passengers got away and authorities are actively searching for them.

We're told they found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.
