A COVID-relief program is helping the owners of nearly 500 small businesses in Edinburg get back on their feet.

Among those businesses is Match Made Coffee, which will get a $2,000 boost from the third version of the city's Stimulus Program Aimed at Recovery from COVID-19, or SPARC program.

"This is money that we got from the federal government, “Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina said. “We could have used it for different things such as infrastructure, but we knew that a lot of our small businesses have been struggling."

According to a news release, the city's SPARC program will have distributed more than $2 million in grants to local businesses by the end of August.

Molina added that soon, the city will be giving out $100 to residents to encourage them to shop local.
