Families Say Additional Security Needed at Donna Cemetery following Vandalism
DONNA – Several families are asking a local cemetery to make changes to their security practices after several memorials were vandalized this week.
The people CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with said they don’t understand why someone would desecrate burial places.
“We found out he had been vandalized and not just his but other ones here, as well,” explains Claudia Villegas, whose brother is buried there.
The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department says they parked a surveillance tower at the request of the property owner, which cited vandalism issue.
KRGV’s Taylor Winkel reached out to Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
