A local college and a nonprofit are offering free training to help students land jobs as certified nursing assistants.

Rio Valley College and Dwyer Workforce Development are partnering to offer tuition-free certified nursing assistant training. The program also covers uniforms and books.

The goal is to get more people trained for jobs in local hospitals and clinics in the Valley.

"There has been a decrease in the Valley of 19% fewer CNAs so what we're doing with this partnership with Dwyer Workforce is we're helping meet those needs," Rio Grande College Community Outreach Liaison Joaquin Alejandro Lozano said.

Applicants need a high school diploma or GED to qualify. The next session starts Oct. 12, 2026, with 15 spots still available.
