Los Fresnos has a 10-year plan to improve the city, and it's built around what residents say they actually want.

The plan comes after a two-year city survey. Results show residents want more walking trails, safer bike paths and soccer fields.

Los Fresnos resident Aaron Guel moved to the city 7 months ago. He said the lack of walking trails is hard to miss.

"I always see myself running around in the same places. I always find myself in places and maybe in the streets," Guel said.

But the plan goes beyond recreation. Los Fresnos City Secretary Jacqueline Moya said infrastructure is also a major focus.

"This includes projects upgrading the water and sewer systems. Improving the effectiveness of our storm drainage and repairing our streets," Moya said.

Moya said the city will tackle improvements based on urgency.

"High-priority projects like improving our water and sewer system will begin in the next five years, while lower-priority projects may occur later or beyond 2027," Moya said.

The city plans to fund the projects through grants, private partnerships, or taxpayer money.

City commissioners will adopt the 10-year draft plan later this month, with project planning as the next step.
