The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed a 68-year-old Peñitas man Friday afternoon north of Palmview.

The crash happened at about 1:47 p.m. at the intersection of Texan Road and 5 Mile Line.

According to DPS, a Ford F-250 was heading westbound on 5 Mile Line when the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit a Kia Optima traveling southbound on Texan Road.

The Ford then continued moving and struck a FedEx truck heading eastbound on 5 Mile Line.

Ruben Dario Molina Barron, 68, the driver of the Kia, died at the scene.

The driver and a passenger in the Ford were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The FedEx driver was not taken to the hospital.

DPS troopers continue to investigate the crash.
