Palmview, TX (KRGV) — A 42-year-old Sullivan City man died following a single-vehicle rollover that occurred while he was fleeing from a traffic stop, according to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sgt. Maria Hernandez.

Hernandez said the crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, on Moorefield Road south of FM 676 north of Palmview.

A DPS trooper attempted to stop a 2004 Ford F-150 for a traffic violation at FM 1924 and Western Road. The driver, identified as Raul Garcia, did not stop and drove north against traffic on Moorefield Road toward FM 676.

Hernandez said Garcia lost control of the truck and it rolled over, partially throwing him from the truck. Garcia died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
