BROWNSVILLE – A Brownsville man, who’s called the Rio Grande Valley border home over 70 years, wants to see more done to protect it.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with Rusty Monsees, whose home is yards away from the Rio Grande.

He says seeing a person cross into the U.S. illegally is nothing new. For him, there are too many physical miles to cover and the river isn’t wide enough to discourage them from swimming across.

Monsees says more military presence is what’s needed at the border.
