Mission – The Mission Police Department held a memorial service ceremony Monday, honoring two officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The ceremony honored Humberto Javier Avila and Fulgencio Velasco III.

"We'll never replace the life of one of the first responders, you know, bring them back to life but it is what it is and they gave service to our community and our citizens of Mission are very proud of them," says Mission Mayor, Armando O’Caña.

O’Caña hopes ceremonies like these bring peace and comfort to the officer’s families.
