RAYMONDVILLE – Raymondville police are making sure no one is forgotten in case of emergency evacuations come hurricane season.

An officer with the Raymondville Police Department says he tags along with the Meals on Wheels Program to routinely check that residents, especially the elderly, are prepared.

Twice a week every week, officers knock on the doors of at least 20 homes mostly targeting the vulnerable.

“The people that are homebound or bedbound – that cannot come outside, that need assistance,” says Patrol Corporal Alonso Gonzalez.

He says they use the routine to pre-analyze each home and get a feel for how each family should safely evacuate.

Residents say they feel more prepared and know they won’t be forgotten.

Anyone interested in signing up for home-delivered meals can do it online.
