Safety protocols in place at Valley polling locations amid coronavirus pandemic

Early voting for runoff elections in the state are underway, along with new measures to keep voters safe while casting their ballot.

Remi Garza, Cameron County elections administrator, says the first thing early voters will see is hand sanitizer and social distancing would need to be followed. If people don’t have a face mask, one will be offered as they enter the polling location.

Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Yvonne Ramon says voters will be provided a disposable stylus to cast their ballot. She explains election employees met with judges to discuss the logistics of voting and minimizing touch.
