WESLACO – A government agency could help flood victims by offering long-term, low-interest loans.

Only those who don't qualify for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are eligible for the loan. However, applicants must first be registered with FEMA to be referred to SBA.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with SBA spokesman Corey Williams who explains how communities rely on small businesses economically.

SBA will set up shop in the Rio Grande Valley and will also set up a recovery center for business applicants on Thursday at the Valley Metro Transit Center located at 510 S. Pleasantview Drive in Weslaco.

An applicant can qualify for FEMA and SBA assistance together, but businesses are not eligible for FEMA grant assistance.
