Several Rio Grande Valley fire departments are responding to a major brush fire in northern Hidalgo County.

Raymondville, Edinburg, Elsa, Edcouch, McAllen and La Villa fire departments responded to the call. The Texas A&M Forest Service is also providing aid.

Details about the fire are limited, and a Channel 5 News crew is headed toward the scene to gather more information.
