SpaceX sets target date for 15th Starship launch at Starbase
Starbase, TX (KRGV) — SpaceX has set a target date for Starship's 15th test flight.
The target date is Nov. 13 with the 75-minute launch window opening at 4:45 p.m., pending regulatory approval.
According to a news release, SpaceX plans to make Flight 15 the first mission to return both Starship and Super Heavy to the launch site for a catch.
The news release said if that works, it would mark the first full recovery of an orbital launch system. About six to eight minutes after liftoff, Super Heavy may try to return to the pad at Starbase for a tower catch and about 22 hours after launch, SpaceX plans to bring Starship's upper stage back to the launch site for a catch. Both are dependent on if strict conditions are met.
Residents of Cameron County and nearby areas may hear one or more sonic booms during both planned returns. The sonic boom does not present a health risk and what people hear will depend on weather and other conditions.
SpaceX will set up a safety zone perimeter with local law enforcement that includes temporary closures of Highway 4 and Boca Chica Beach. The city of Starbase issues public notices on temporary closures of Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4.
