BROWNSVILLE – A college which has several campuses nationwide has been closed down permanently – two of those campuses are here in the Rio Grande Valley.

Many teachers are without jobs and many students don’t know which step to take next.

A mass email was sent Wednesday afternoon stating that the Department of Education added requirements that made the operation of Brightwood schools more challenging; it also included lack of funding as another challenge.

The school system has 25 locations in total, with 11 of those in Texas.

KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro explains students will receive credit for all courses finished and passed by Friday.

Those who used a federal loan may not have to pay it back due to the closure. To see if you qualify, visit the Department of Education’s website.
