SAN JUAN - For some, the tamal is a must have this holiday season, whether it’s bought in a local store or homemade, the tamal carries a significant meaning besides its deliciousness. 

Rosalinda Vargas remembers being in their kitchen in a little town in Tamaulipas preparing tamales with her great grandmother.
