Texas First Lady Address Philanthropy Group at Brownsville ISD to Inspire Their Communities
BROWNSVILLE – The First Lady of Texas was the keynote speaker for the Brownsville Independent School District Youth in Philanthropy ceremony reminding students of the importance of service.
First Lady Cecilia Abbott addressed the students from six early college high schools, all of whom participated in the semester-long Youth in Philanthropy program.
The students were tasked with researching local nonprofit organizations.
“By participating in the Brownsville Youth in Philanthropy Program you are learning perhaps the most important life lesson how to stay connected by giving of yourselves to help others in your community,” said Abbott.
Abbott hopes the students will inspire others to volunteer and give back to their communities.
