UTRGV head football coach Travis Bush held his first media availability at the Vaqueros Performance Center early Wednesday afternoon.

During the press conference, Coach Bush highlighted the team's high morale after the Week 1 shutout win over Sul Ross State, as well as the collective mindset for their first road game of the season against Prairie View A&M this Saturday.

"A huge challenge," Coach Bush said. "I'm really excited for us as a program to get this challenge and see where we stand and how we match up. A super talented veteran ball club. You look at their defense. They've got 10 of the 11 starters that are seniors, juniors or grads with nine of those being seniors or grads so a very veteran group. Offensively I really like what they do offensively. The QB plays well and he's very mobile, makes some plays and they're going to put it in his hands when the game is on the line but it's going to be a challenge to contain him."

Coach Bush added that this week the Vaqueros practiced with no music on as a way to prepare the players for the hostile atmosphere as the away team.

"We have to try to bring in our own energy and things like that, but I think the environment is going to be good," Coach Bush said. "Prairie View has a great environment but they're not going to be on our side, so just knowing that, we're all we got and we got to bring in our own energy, the sidelines have to have energy and we have to be focused, so we try to focus on that stuff this week."

The Vaqueros will hit the road on Friday and will stay the night in Houston then make the roughly 45-minute drive northwest to Prairie View the next morning. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
