UTRGV Men's Soccer Draws With Eastern Illinois
Edinburg, TX — UTRGV had to settle for a draw against Eastern Illinois after VAR changed two key calls in the second half.
Emmanuel Gore Bi put the Vaqueros ahead when VAR overturned an offside call on his header. Eastern Illinois tied it 6 minutes later when Sergej Misic scored over the goalkeeper.
Sammy Jadid sent a cross to Elias Taj for what looked like another UTRGV goal, but VAR confirmed the offside call.
Later, Jadid drew a penalty kick inside the box and VAR confirmed the call. Kai Odagiri stopped Mouhamed Pouye's penalty kick and the teams finished even.
"The chances that we're creating is been in every single conference game. We had a lot of clear cut chances, now it's just a matter of being confident in taking those chances which would result in three points. So we go back to it again. We got to keep working and look at it positively." UTRGV men's soccer head coach Bryheem Hancock said.
UTRGV opened conference play with a draw and back to back losses in its first three games.
