The UTRGV volleyball team will have its first home game on Tuesday afternoon after starting the 2026 season with back-to-back tournaments on the road.

The Vaqueros went 1-3 in those two tournaments, with the lone victory coming in a sweep over Texas State. Now, they turn the page to host Texas Southern.

"Yeah, we're excited for tomorrow's home opener and we're excited to show our crowd what we got this season," sophomore right side/outside hitter Ema Petkovic said. "I think we're ready and I think we're hungry for the win."

"I think this weekend we learned that if we keep the energy up, that helps us a lot to be consistent during the game," junior outside hitter Martina Franco added. "If we're having fun, our level goes up quickly, so just have fun and be consistent with the energy."

The Vaqueros have won 47 matches against the Tigers, seven of them in a row and will look to make it eight straight on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
