UTRGV women's soccer looks to end losing streak with home game against Nicholls
UTRGV women's soccer has struggled to find a groove ever since Southland Conference play began in mid-September.
The Vaqueros have lost three straight and have yet to win a conference game this season, a losing streak they hope to snap on Thursday afternoon when they host Nicholls.
UTRGV has had some success against Nicholls with a win and a draw in the first two conference meetings. With just five games left in the season, head coach Nataki Stewart emphasized winning from here on out to have a chance to play in the Southland Conference tournament.
"I think the team has played good enough football to be different in the table, but we are where we are and we dug a hole sort of speak," Stewart said. "So, we have to dig ourselves out and only goals can help. It doesn't matter if it's 0-0, it doesn't help us really. We need to win the game and the only way to do that is by scoring goals."
First whistle for the game between UTRGV and Nicholls is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Complex.
