Valley Community Comes Together in Memory of 9/11
PORT ISABEL - First responders and veterans came together in memory of 9/11.
The group Veterans United organized the ceremony.
The list of speakers included one person who was in Manhattan at the time of the attack and a military veteran who served overseas as a result of 9/11.
Event organizers tell us the purpose is to make sure Valley residents never forget what happened 18-years ago.
Also in honor of the 9/11 anniversary, a group of retirees cleaned gravestones at Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Around 80 volunteers, with the Rio Grande Valley Senior Corps, cleaned every tombstone.
