KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, is currently seeking: Receptionist / Telephone Operator.

Under general Administrative supervision, acts as a switchboard operator and receptionist, gives information to callers or transfers calls to appropriate departments; performs clerical and typing duties; and other related duties as required. The primary duty of this position is to greet clients and the general public, as well as answer incoming telephone calls, distribute in-coming and out-going mail. Occasionally, some support of social media responsibilities will be needed. There will be other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

This is a Part-Time Position

 

Responsibilities

 

·         Have communication skills.

·         Basic computer skills with applications such as MS Word, MS Excel etc.

·         Data Entry

·         Knowledge of general office procedures and office machines (computer, fax, and copier).

·         Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

·         Operation of a centralized telephone system.  

·         Acceptable telephone etiquette.

·         Oral and written communication skills.

·         General clerical duties.

·         Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

·         Operate a centralized telephone switchboard and/or system.

·         Knowledge of social media networks.

·         Analyze situations accurately and exercise good judgment in taking effective action.

·         Meet visitors and the public tactfully and courteously.

·         Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

·         Answer questions in person or by telephone in a respectful manner.

·         Efficiently work with frequent interruptions.

·         Use basic computer programs and data systems.

·         Be confidential and discreet with information.

·         This position requires someone with a pleasant voice and personality.

·         Bilingual in English and Spanish is necessary.
