UTRGV linebacker Jaiden Haygood took home the SLC Defensive Player of the Week award and the Stats Perform Defensive Player of the Week award this week.
It’s the second time Haygood has taken home the honor this season, also receiving the award after his stellar performance against McNeese earlier this season.
The Vaqueros star linebacker helped lead the team to a win over Central Arkansas with 20 tackles, two tackles for a loss, and two pass break-ups.
“Every time I go to the field, I really just try to lock in,” Haygood said of his success this season. “Get by myself for a little bit, really getting in the head space. Try to get around my linebackers and give them some juice… Then when I get in the game it's me, Spencer [Rich] and [Jackson] Waid and we just really go out there and feed off each other.”
UTRGV is back at home this Saturday to take on #13 Lamar.
