Hidalgo County – One woman was jailed and two other suspects are on the run after they committed a robbery at two firework stands on the same day.

Maria De Jesus Espinoza, 37, is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and endangering a child.

Investigators said her son was in the car the entire time during the robberies.

One of the robberies happened at Mr. G’s Fireworks stand and another stand on FM 2812 just outside of Edinburg.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS interviewed several Mr. G’s Fireworks employees. They declined an interview and said they were afraid they’d face retaliation. However, they did recount what happened that night.

One of the employees said they saw a car driving by several times before stopping at the location. He said one man got out of the car and asked how much money they had made that day. He then asked them what the most expensive item they sold was.

At that point, the employee said the man jumped over the counter and snatched several items. He said another person waiting in the car had a gun.

“Security is usually needed between the 24th and the 31st. The owners park behind the booths and they help us with security and keeping the money secure with them so we don’t have all the money,” said an employee of the other Edinburg stand.

Investigators said the armed suspects stole fireworks and personal property from employees during the crimes. They said they’re working to track down Espinoza’s accomplices.

The suspects were identified as 23-year-old Abram Uresti Garza and 30-year-old Lucas Garza.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts can call Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers at 383-8477.
