2 Arrested in Cameron Co. Aggravated Robbery Case

BROWNSVILLE – Cameron County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people linked to an aggravated robbery.

The robbery happened at a Stripes store on the 7900 block of Southmost Road. Investigators said the two entered the store around 6 a.m. on Monday and demanded money.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said 17-year-old Eibi Rodriguez and 23-year-old Jose Antonio Rodriguez are charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

During the robbery, one of the suspects pointed a gun at the clerk. The weapon turned out to be a paintball gun.

The men were able to get away with $30 and some cases of beer.

Lucio said a sheriff deputy went back to the store to get more information on the crime that’s when he spotted the suspected getaway vehicle nearby.

The two fled but were quickly arrested by the deputy with the help of Brownsville police.
