2 Critical after SUV Plows into Home in Harlingen

HARLINGEN – Several people, most of them children, are recovering following an auto-pedestrian crash near downtown Harlingen.

EMS crews responded to a call at a home on the 100 block of East Madison Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

Harlingen police tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS six people, five of those children who are believed to have been playing in the front yard, were struck by a grey Nissan Xterra before it made its way through the home.  

According to a statement by the Harlingen Police Department, upon arrival, officers encountered the victims laying on the ground. 

The victims were sent to Valley Baptist Medical Center and Harlingen Medical Center. 

Harlingen police say a 7-year-old in critical but stable condition is recovering, but a 1-year-old boy is on his way to a San Antonio hospital. 

We learned the driver of the vehicle was identified as a 65-year-old man of McAllen. 

No charges have been filed against the driver.
