WESLACO – A man is recovering after being involved in a crash while riding his motorcycle.

Robert Watkins, a 76-year-old motorcyclist, collided with an SUV on Pleasantview Drive in Weslaco.

A 37-year-old woman was driving the vehicle.

Watkins was airlifted to McAllen Medical Center with serious injuries. He suffered several fractures on his hand and hip.

Police said both drivers were trying to get in the middle lane at the time of the accident.

Weslaco police is still working on confirming the details of how the crash happened.

As a general note – the department advises people to follow road regulations. If a driver is making a right turn, they must stay in the right lane when turning. If they’re turning left then they must stay in the left lane.
