Upgrades are underway at Mario Leal Park in Elsa.

The basketball pavilion is being renovated. The backboards will be repainted, new basketball rims will be installed and the court will be painted blue.

The city hopes the upgrades will attract more visitors.

"For them to be outdoors, especially when it is cooler, but to get out and walk and do recreational programs and to use this beautiful pavilion that we have," Elsa Parks and Rec Director Kristyna Mancias said.

Work on the basketball pavilion began last week and is expected to wrap up in four weeks at a cost of $4,000.
